How It All Started

When the Pot Belly Pig craze came around I wanted one but could not afford the exuberant prices.  I waited.  When I finally got one I did not educate myself first.  Although I raised Sir Percival who is a Florida Feral, pot belly pigs are different.

My first pot belly was a tiny 6 day old which was to be another adventure.

I was told she would only be 45 pounds.  She is 300 pounds.  She was very aggressive.  I understand now after contacting many people how important it is to educate yourself, not only to pot belly pigs but to any animal you get.

With the help of some pot belly pig people Scarlett and I worked out our problems.

Then I was asked if I wanted to start a rescue since one of only a few were moving theirs to New York.  I was very hesitant.  I still felt like I did not know enough but gave it a try.  That was in June of 1997.

Yet another adventure began.

Now, even 6 1/2 years later it is still an adventure.

I feel that you never stop learning.

I filed for my non-profit status in 2001.

I also started working at a vet’s office in 2001 working my way up to be a Vet-Tech.

In 2003 I have been taking a course for Vet-Tech.

I have gone from 25 pigs to the present number of 125.  The number of pigs varies as I adopt out to the right people and right homes.

So the adventure continues . . . . . .

I am Lynne Boismier.....President of Noah's Ark Pot Belly Pig Rescue, Inc.
I love what I am doing because these animals cannot speak for themselves.......they have to have a voice when they are abandoned and abused.
You can sit with them and see a lot in their eyes........the love, the wonderment, the fear.
I decided after I got my first pot belly pig and started having aggression problems along with a lot of other problems with her that I would start the sanctuary especially after some friends encouraged me. I think people need to be educated as to what they are getting into. These are wonderful pets but are not for everyone....it was hard when I first got mine in 1993. Now, there is education for people on the net but I want to be there in person if people need to know more or just come see the pigs in person to make sure this is the commitment they want to make. I do not take owning an animal lightly and do not want others to either.
If I were not doing the rescue I probably would still be showing the horses I have. I have not shown in a few years because it takes a lot of hours to run a sanctuary properly.
I am able to do this rescue with the help of a lot of people out there who donate time and money.......without that it would be very hard. I have a sponsorship program that helps with money toward the pigs too. I work a part time job as a vet tech in a vets office nearby. All of it comes together in taking care of these wonderful animals.
